Petition for Traffic Calming Study
I live on Parkview Drive and am tired of construction traffic and those of us who speed along Parkview Drive. I will be sending all residence/home owners on Parkview Drive a letter with a petition attached for your signature. The request will be for you to sign the petition if you are in favor of Summit County performing another traffic study on Parkview Drive. Although the posted speed is 25mph we all know that we do not drive 25 on Parkview Drive. Those of us who live on Parkview Drive can tell you that the Construction traffic is about 30% of our frustration lately, the other 70% are residents of Summit Park. We are our own worst enemies. We cause most of our own problems, and we can fix them. If each of us stopped and looked at how fast we are driving as we plow down the road (me included) we would realize that 25 is actually NOT what we are driving. It is significantly slower than we are driving. Let’s not have one of our dogs, or our children die because we are in such a big hurry to get somewhere. Please slow down, and those who live on Parkview Drive, please watch for the petition, and help me by returning it to me signed.

We’ll definitely sign a petition when we receive it. When I was in the County Engineering this Summer, Heather asked how we liked the new asphalt and stone work on Parkview. I reply that it was great, but the speeding has increased. Knowing that Public Works Dept is against any kind of permanent speed bumps, I mentioned that I had seen some removable speed bumps recently and she said they might be open to discussing. We’ll see.

count me in ….even the school buses are running much faster than 25 mph…..often see folks passing the construction trucks which are speeding in the first place. I’m sure these folks don’t speed like this on their own streets ….maybe replace the stop sign at Crestview or just slow down a bit

I do not live on Parkview, but I live in Summit Park. I would be happy to sign the petition because our neighborhood is full of lead foots. I live on Crestview Drive. There are people speeding up and down our road all of the time. I was almost hit by my neighbor last winter because of the speed he was carrying going down our hill. Other neighborhoods have speed bumps that the snow plows seem to manage just fine. I am unclear why the county thinks that our excellent snow plow drivers are unable to handle sensible speed bumps while clearing our streets in the winter.

I would sign this petition and add the problem of ignoring stop signs.

Yes, please! I live on a straight stretch of Parkview where they recently eliminated a stop sign. While most people are quite reasonable about there speed, there are one or two that seem to want to use this stretch of Parkview to see how fast they can go.

I also don’t live on Parkview Drive, but I would sign ANY petition that may get people to slow down. I actually DO observe the speed limit, and I get really annoyed when I have a conga line of cars behind me who are breathing down my neck. Tailgating is dangerous! I would also sign a petition to have the stop sign re-installed at the recently completed intersection of Parkview Drive and Saint Moritz Strasse. What is Public Works thinking??? Even when the stop sign was there, it was frequently ignored, but at least it stopped a few drivers from barrelling down that hill.

The petition was not necessary. Summit County accepted our request for the traffic calming without the petition. That was in September of 2014, since then the Engineer has left the County and we are on hold until they hire another Engineer. I will continue to contact them to request the study, BUT, it all comes back to us as residence of Summit Park. The County will only do what the residence want, if we want more traffic control, we can have it. We are the problem. We as residence need to recognize that we are the ones who are speeding, running the stop signs, etc. and take action.
