Attached is a notice for a budget public hearing on the 2013 County budget to be held at 6 PM on Wednesday December 12 at the Sheldon Richins Services Building on Ute Boulevard in the Kimball Junction area. Because of the proposed tax increases for Service Area # 6 and the Municipal Fund have been frozen , the County Council is considering budget options for next year that could result in a serious deterioration in the level of service that the County could provide for winter road maintenance. If the Council adopts a budget that requires us to reduce our road plowing staff by two workers, it could mean that either we must devote more time to opening up major roads and bus routes while deferring when we get to plowing in all neighborhoods or concentrating on the main roads and higher elevation neighborhoods first .Under the second choice we may not get to plowing lower elevation neighborhoods until late in the day after a storm. On the other hand, if the Council adopts a budget with the tax increase we would not experience a deterioration in winter maintenance services. Please see the attached summary of the issue. If you have questions on this matter, please feel free to call me at 435.336.3978.
